On June 22nd, Parks Canada held a Hometown Hero’s celebration recognizing Rear Admiral Walter Hose for starting the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve after WW-I. The event started from Legion Br 594 with National Band of the Naval Reserve marching to the RAdm Hose monument at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.  Dignitaries included the newly appointed Vice Admiral Art McDonald as head of the Royal Canadian Navy, Ms. Thresa Sims, Upper Mohawk Indigenous Culture & language Specialist, CPO1 Darcy Burd Command Chief, LCdr Daren Harnett CO HMCS Hunter, Lt(N) Bruce Jackson Chaplain HMCS Hunter, SLt Rev Canon William Thomas Naval Assoc of Canada, Ron Sitarz President Royal Canadian Naval Assoc Windsor, Tom Friesen President Royal Canadian Legion Br 594, Ms. Patricia Simone GM Heavenly Rest, Drew Dilkens Mayor City of Windsor, Mike Akpata Councillor Town of LaSalle and Brian Houston Councillor Town of Tecumseh.

Pictured above is of LCdr Daren Harnett CO HMCS Hunter presenting a medallion as a token of appreciation for the support provided by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594. Receiving the medallion is RCL 594 President Tom Friesen.  The presentation took place during the June 25th General Membership Meeting.
