It’s time to sit back and reflect on how the District “A” Convention went the weekend of April 20 thru the 23. What I will say is that there was a lot that had to be done just in the preparations for this event. To put this all together, I want to Thank Zone A1 and all the Branches in the Zone. There were comrades helping from all the branches doing the banquet room preparations, shuttle driving the convention attendees, taking care of the billeting for the comrades attending this event, putting together the convention booklet. Thank You for all your help with this.

I also want to Thank the people from our Branch doing the 50/50 draws, the silent auction, Ways ‘N Means and their people helping in the kitchen, members doing banquet room preparations, shuttle driving with some using their own vehicles, entertainment, our branch Color Guard who did the opening and closing ceremonies for the convention and the Remembrance Service on Sunday.

Motor City Chrysler at the corner of Tecumseh Road and Walker Road was very helpful by lending us two vans that we used to help scuttle convention members. A big Thank You to Mr. Tom Dolianitis who is the service manager there. There were also quite a few companies and individuals who so kindly donated prizes for this event. Thank You.

Lastly, I want to Thank Comrade President Archie Neilson for the great amount of work that he did in putting this all together. There were a lot of things that he did that wouldn’t have been seen by the members or other people so Thank You, Archie.

In the event that I have missed anyone, I truly apologize, but thank you too!

John Antaya,
Branch 594 District “A” Convention Chairman.
